Joined Ayr Photographic Society tonight. Intended joining the Film Society next week. Came as a bit of a surprise to find that both groups meet at the same time on the same night each week about a hundred yards apart. Surely I am not the only person who is interested in both photography and film? Dont know what the answer is, but surely a bit of discussion and give and take wouldn't do any harm?

50.9% audience rating for Sightseers? Surely some mistake.

Thanks John. The website is very much a work in progress and Ron and myself hope to have it more developed for the next season. I'm gutted to be missing next week's film 'The Hunt' as I have a suspicion it could get very high scores and all the reviews have been strong. Tonight's film 'Up There' was a pleasant surprise as I thought it might be a woeful Brit rom-com, but it had a reflective mood and the lead performance fitted the tone very well. (And nice to see Saltcoats looking cinematic. I heard a rumour they are going to use it for the upcoming 'Batman vs Superman'.)

I like the new look of our website, and the added features of preview clips and a Comments section is a definite improvement. Many thanks to James Andrew for his work here.
My favourite film of the season so far has been ‘The Artist’ ; a beautifully made film about the travails and triumphs of an actor back in the days when silent movies were being overtaken by ‘the talkies’. The leading lady, Berenice Bejo, looks absolutely gorgeous ; but the real star of the show is the little dog, Uggie, who performs many entertaining tricks, and plays a pivotal role in the story.
